Amb Sahib Morcha – No Punjab Bandh call so far; Sikh leaders appeal Sikh Sangat not to believe in rumours

Amb Sahib/ Mohali, Punjab (December 06, 2013): It has come to the notice of the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that the social media, especially the facebook, is becoming a hub for rumours related to Amb Sahib morcha initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh for the release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails in India despite completing the terms of their sentences.
A poster has been in circulation over the Facebook asking people to observe Punjab Bandh or Punjab Shut Down on December 09.
The poster is in Punjabi language and it carries a Photo of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh showing him behind the (graphical) bars. The poster reads:
“Let us support Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa Ji.
Punjab Bandh on December 09.
Observe peaceful strike seeking release of Sikhs confined in Jails.
From: Entire Sikh Nation”.
Sikh leaders in charge of Amb Sahib Morcha told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that a joint meeting of various Sikh organizations and prominent personalities was held on December 06 after the arrest of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh on intervening night of December 05 and 06.

“No call of Punjab bandh was made by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh or the Sikh organizations”, Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema (Akali Dal Panch Pardhani) told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN).
Similarly Bhai Satnam Singh Paunta Sahib of Dal Khalsa and Bhai R. P. Singh of Akhand Kirtani Jatha (AKJ) said that the Sikh bodies or Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa does not endorse any such Punjab Bandh call.
They said that Bhai Damandeep Singh has started his fast unto death at Amb Sahib on December 06 after the arrest of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.
“This step has been endorsed by various Sikh bodies and Bhai Gurbaksh Singh” they added.
“No bandh call has been issued so far”, they clarified.
The morcha has intensified the Sikh activism in Punjab therefore the Sangat should refrain from believing or acting upon rumours as this could harm the cause.
Sikh leaders have appealed the Sikh sangat to verify any suspicious or sensational information before believing or distributing it.
