Bhai Gurbaksh Singh sent to Ropar Jail

BHAI GURBAKSH SINGH BEING DETAINED IN ROPAR JAIL CONTINUES HUNGER STRIKE, OTHERS JOIN IN



Bhai Damadeep SinghMOHALI, PUNJAB - As per information various Sikh leaders have visited Gurdwara Amb Sahib (Mohali) to meet Bhai Damandeep Singh Khasla whose fast unto death, seeking release of certain Sikh prisoners has entered 3rd day today.

It is notable that after the arrest of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh on intervening night of December 05 and 06, Bhai Damandeep Singh expressed his determination to sit on indefinite hunger strike in the absence of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh. Various Sikh organizations held a meeting to discuss the situation and allowed Bhai Damandeep Singh to launch his struggle.

Bhai Damandeep Singh is a 26 years old Sikh youth from Ludhiana and he would continue with the peaceful hunger strike at Gurdwara Amb Sahib whilst Bhai Gurbaksh Singh remains imprisoned.

According to press release sent by PD Network to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) “Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa Dhadrianwale has visited Bhai Damandeep Singh this evening to show the young Sikh support. Sikhs must continue to display solidarity towards the cause to free Sikh prisoners who continue to languish in Indian jails after the completion of their legal sentences”.

Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema who is currently looking after the conduct of morcha for the release of Sikh prisoners who have completed the terms of their sentences, told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that various Sikh organizations have been credited with the responsibility to provide a security cover of 100 persons for 24 hours to Bhai Damandeep Singh Khalsa, so that the incidents like abduction/arrest of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh is not repeated.

It is notable that on the intervening night of December 05 and 06 drunken police personal in civil cloths had forcibly removed Bhai Gurbaksh Singh from the site of struggle. A fight between the abductors (the police) and the Sikhs staying with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh had resulted in injuries to some Sikh leaders including Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema.

More than 100 workers of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) led by S. Simranjeet Singh Mann sat on morcha site on December 07. Akali Dal Panch Pardhani workers were protecting the morcha site today.
