The Punjab Police today picked up seven persons for their alleged involvement in a clash between Sikh and Dera Sauda followers at Dhudike village in the district during a religious congregation two weeks ago.
Among those arrested are four Sikhs and three dera followers.
Hundreds of policemen swooped on several houses in the village in the wee hours and took into custody Ranjit Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Gurpreet Singh.
The Police allege they were part of the mob that attacked dera followers while the latter were preparing for their religious congregation on 25 November 2013. The mob had allegedly burnt tents set up by the dera followers and their vehicles.
